We have a pair of Kestrels nesting in an Owl box close to where I live. So I decided to try photographing them.
Their nesting site is in a challenging location from a photography perspective, being shaded by a tree and obscured by leaves and branches. By choosing my location carefully, using a telephoto lens and boosting the cameras exposure, I was able to get a reasonably clear view.
As always with wildlife you need to be patient. There was very little sign of activity at the nest and after a couple of hours I was on the verge of giving up, when suddenly both parents appeared with a mouse to feed their chicks.
It was fantastic to see these beautiful birds at such close quarters and I am really happy with the resulting image.
