Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow
A fantastic opportunity to photograph vintage aircraft

This weekend I visited the Imperial War Museum at Duxford in Cambridgeshire to watch the annual Battle of Britain Airshow. Despite the weather preventing some of scheduled planes from flying, there were still a great many vintage aircraft on display, including the "Big Wing" formation of Spitfires and Hurricanes from WWII.
It was a great opportunity to bring out my longest lens and get as close to the action as possible. I used a fast shutter speed to freeze the action, whilst looking for opportunities for the planes to catch the light as they performed. Some close ups of the aircraft and their pilots helped to put the flying into context too.
All in all it was a fantastic experience and I hope to return next year to further refine my technique.
